She? He? They? Zie? Faer? Do you know what these pronouns signify? What does it mean when someone says they are Cis? Trans? Enby? Agender? Genderqueer? Two Spirit? These words all signify contemporary ways of talking about and living gender identity in the 21st Century. This webinar provides an overview of the complexity of gender identity against the backdrop of anti-discrimination law. Looking at what the law requires, in cases like Bostock v. Clayton County, we will discuss some best practices for addressing gender identity in the workplace. This webinar will prepare you to navigate the new normal beyond binary notions of sex and gender.


Saru Matambanadzo is the Moise S. Steeg Associate Professor of Law at Tulane University School of Law. She is a nationally known authority on gender equality and workplace equity whose scholarship examines modern challenges in the workplace through an interdisciplinary lens. Professor Matambanadzo, a longtime teacher in Tulane’s groundbreaking online Master of Jurisprudence in Labor and Employment Law program, was named Senior Director of Online Legal Education in 2022, with responsibility for overseeing the entire landscape of Tulane Law’s online education programs.
