Financial literacy is often viewed as the foundation of financial wellness and retirement readiness, but does greater financial knowledge actually translate into better outcomes and decisions? Drawing on findings from MissionSquare Research Institute’s workforce research and its 2026 national survey of more than 2,000 public- and private-sector employees, this session examines how financial literacy relates to financial wellness, retirement confidence, workplace stress, and financial decision-making. The session also explores how employers can use financial education, professional guidance, digital resources, and effective benefit communication to help employees turn financial knowledge into meaningful action.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the relationship between financial literacy, financial wellness, and retirement readiness.
  • Identify factors that influence employee financial behavior, workplace stress, and confidence in financial decision-making.
  • Explore employer strategies that help employees turn financial knowledge into meaningful action and stronger financial outcomes.

Eligible for one (1) SHRM credit
