I manage the human resources of a recreation and parks department comprising 270 permanent and 1,000 occasional staff members. Staff work year-round or seasonally; they are "young," "senior" and in-between; they are professional recreators, program support staff and administrative support staff. Two staff members are AFSCME, and 30 staff members are FPE. I manage the approval process for 10,000 volunteers.
I supervise three analysts and two assistants, and I am supervised by a division chief.
I am a subject matter expert in fingerprinting, fingerprint-based background checks, non-fingerprint-based background checks, professional and commercial background screeners, Workday HCM and payroll. I am SHRM-SCP.
I am mostly interested in fact-finding, investigations, performance management and employee training and development.
