Drew Smith, EFO/CFO, LP is fire chief of the Prospect Heights (IL) Fire District. A 40-plus year member of the fire service with the past 33 as a chief officer, he has been a member of volunteer, combination and career departments. An experienced training officer, regional academy director, regional TRT director, statewide committee chair, and college faculty with multiple firefighting, special operations, officer, and instructor certifications. He has led the formation of a new fire department, implemented FD-based paramedic ambulances, transitioned from volunteer to career staff, and implemented several new programs into fire departments such as aerial apparatus and ARFF. A member of several state and national fire service organizations, he has presented at FDIC more than two-dozen times as well as at state and regional conferences over the past 30 years.
